Leader in overseas distribution FICUS acquired the theatrical rights for USA for the Telugu and Tamil versions of the much awaited summer romance “180” starring Siddharth, Nithya Menen and Priya Anand, directed by noted ad film maker and first time director Jayendra. The film produced by Sathyam Cinemas and Aghal Films has generated a lot of curiosity with its first look, trailer and audio and is all set to hit the screens on June 25th.
180 is a story about the power of the moment where the protagonist discovers that life is not lived thinking about yesterday or planning for tomorrow but living in the moment and appreciating it. The film focuses on delivering this message through all aspects - story, dialogues, music, lyrics, choreography and cinematography. The film has some stunning visuals, thanks to acclaimed cinematographer Balasubramaniem and international colorist Kevin Shaw who has worked on several Hollywood projects. The entire film was shot on the “Red” digital camera with a special song which was shot using the Phantom Flex camera. This is the first time a whole song has been shot using the Phantom. “A moment is just a fraction of a second and there is so much that goes unnoticed. I wanted to slow it down and explore it. The Phantom allowed me to explode a micro second by a hundred times and suddenly, ordinary actions like jumping and kicking look extraordinary. It’s absolutely fascinating.” says Jayendra.
The film’s music has already received rave reviews with two of the songs appearing in the top 10 charts of the local radio stations. There are six songs composed by music director Sharreth, a household name in Kerala who has to his credit, several awards for his work in Malayalam films. His work in 180 portrays his extraordinary talent and his comfort with a wide variety of genres. Jayendra, the director of 180 has conceived each song in the film with a strong core idea. This concept-based approach to each song gives them strong character and direction, in terms of the tune, the lyrics, the choreography and the picturization. Thanks to cinematographer Balasubramaniem the songs have turned out to be a visual treat.
The film has also been getting a lot of recognition for its innovative marketing efforts. For instance, you can log onto Twitter and find the characters of 180 having fun conversations with each other. Or you can log on to the music store and pay as little or as much as you want for any song from the album. You can get all updates at www.180thefilm.com.
Shot in various locations all over India, America and Malaysia, the film promises to deliver romance with a difference. The story, screenplay and dialogues were written by Jayendra and Subha and the songs have lyrics written by Vanamaali in Telugu and Karky and Viveka in Tamil with choreography by Dinesh and Prasanna.
