Nutrition Day by organising Nutrition Exhibition’ & Healthy Cooking Live Demo

Hyderabad, 7th September, 2012: Apollo Hospitals, Hyderguda celebrated Nutrition Day by hosting ‘Nutritional Food Exhibition’ & ‘Live demo on Healthy Cooking’ today, at its premises. Dr. M. Nagaraj, DMS, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderguda, inaugurated the Program.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nagaraj said, the fast food culture rapidly permeating the younger generation is a matter of great concern, as it can lead to several debilitating health ailments in the midst of their productive and prime age. This necessitates a conscious effort to build awareness on healthy diet and the program conceived here aptly helps. There is great need to take such exhibitions to the youth by organising them in schools, colleges, their places of work, he added.
The Nutrition Day at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderguda, had several eminent Nutritionists and Dieticians interacting with the visitors. Session on important topics like dietary management for major diseases like CARDIAC, RENAL, DIABETIC AND OBESITY disorders, were part of the Day. There were educative exhibits – including a day's menu with meals and snacks for major diseases like cardiac, renal, diabetic and obesity disorders. Interesting games focussed on healthy diet were in place.
The most sought after part of the program was the Healthy recipe demonstration. Four recipes one each on a breakfast item, healthy dessert, healthy snack and healthy chat were demonstrated on the occasion.
Nutrition awareness programme through display of charts like symptoms and causes, dietary management etc for cardiac and renal Diseases; comparision of fats; uncontrolled diabetes and dietary management for it, do's and don'ts for diabetes; calorie verses activity, calorie burn chart, pregnancy is precious; BMI chart; food pyramid; glycemic index chart etc. were of great interest for the patients and non-patients alike.
Food stalls by - Nestle, Fresinius, Aristo pharma, Claris companies displayed disease specific nutritional supplement products.
