Hailing from a family of physicians, Dr. Pradyut Waghray is having the natural aptitude and the initiative, spurred on by the enriched environment at home, to espouse the noble calling of medicine. His grandfather Dr Lt Col Kailashnath Waghray, who was the personal physician of the Nizam of Hyderabad, was the first Director of Medical Services of Andhra Pradesh government. His father late R. N. Waghray was instrumental in developing pharmaceutical industry in Hyderabad.
Under the tutelage of such exemplary stalwarts, Dr. Pradyut Waghray blossomed into a physician par excellence and now at the pinnacle of his career, continues to render Yeoman Service and also serves as an inspirational beacon for the entire medical profession
Dr Pradyut Waghray an eminent Pulmonologist of twin cities was inferred with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pulmonary Medicine from River Banks University (USA) for his work on stem cells in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which is an incurable and devastating disease of the lungs.
Dr Waghray was earlier honored with Doctor of Science (D.Sc) in Pulmonary Medicine by Rochville University of United States of America (USA) in August 2006.
Dr Waghray is the only medical professional in India to be conferred with these prestigious honors.
Dr Waghray has been a pulmonologist practicing for the last 27 years. With a passion for teaching, Dr Waghray is currently working as a professor of pulmonary medicine for post-graduate students at SVS Medical College in Mahabubnagar. He has authored many chapters in text books of medicine both for under-graduate and post-graduate students of medicine, apart from having publications in indexed journals and presenting papers at various national and international medical conferences.
In his quest for bringing relief to patients with incurable lung diseases, he has been constantly upgrading himself with latest state of the Art techniques.
A bold new approach using adult stem cell therapy has created an international medical first and raised the hope of patients with pulmonary fibrosis, a life threatening disease with as yet no known cure.
With a penchant for public service, Dr.Waghray has also established several charitable trusts and foundations to serve the patients and promote medical education and research, which include The Kailashnath Charitable Trust, Trirup Medical Education and Research Foundation Trust and Dr Waghray’s Lung Foundation.
Recognizing his services to the public at large, his name was recommended by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to the Additional Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, for consideration of “Padmashree Award”, vide letter No.281/SC-B/A1/2009-4, GA(SC-B) Department, dated 31.10.2009.
His name was recommended again for Padmashree Award from the state GOVT. reference 410/ SCB/A1/2010-7 GAD Dated 01-10-2010 addressed to the secretary to GOVT of India/ Border management (Ministry of Home affairs) North Block, New Delhi.
His name was once again recommended by the state Government for “Padmashree’’ award, to the secretary Ministry of Home Affairs, vide letter No.313/SCB/2012, dated 19.09.2012 .
