The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet celebrated the Annual Investiture Ceremony on 14th Sept, 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic ensured the first ever Virtual Investiture celebrations as the entire proceedings were conducted online keeping the safety and security of students in mind.
The Chief Guest for this unique event was Mr. A. Shyam Mohan, President, The Hyderabad Public School Society. This year on account of the extraordinary circumstances, the Investiture Ceremony moved away from its usual flair and flamboyance. It began with the school prayer followed by the school song. The N.C.C. pledge was then administered by Dr. Skand Bali, the Principal. The Pledge was taken by the Cane of Honour Awardee Ms Praharshita of Class 10B.
Head Boy Designate Master Udbhav Saxena, thanked the school for nurturing his hidden talents and teaching him the value of friendship, hard-work, perseverance and being resolute. He expressed his hope to honour the contribution of the old eaglets while creating a foundation for the future generations to build on.
Ms. Ahana Basu, Head Girl Designate in her speech thanked the school for all the encouragement and motivation provided, allowing her to stand tall, strong and different. She stressed on how individuality is appreciated at HPS and encouraged her fellow eaglets to strive to be different and speak their minds at all times.
The School Annual Report, lauding the multifarious achievements of the students in the academic and co- curricular fields in the year 2019-20 was presented by Dr Skand Bali, Principal, Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet.
About a 120 Prefects and Captains were invested with their insignia in a function that may have been devoid of its usual grandeur and tradition but made up comprehensively, with its charm and dignity. Students who down the years have always been invested by the Chief Guest were, this year invested by their loved ones at home- a touching tribute to members of their family who have played such a pivotal role in their accomplishment.
The Chief Guest, in his address, congratulated all the members of the newly appointed Prefectorial Board. He reiterated about how India is on its way to becoming a Super Power on the able shoulders of its youth. He stated that “Leadership is a two-way traffic. Respect up and down”. He also emphasized that leaders need to handle and accept challenges and concluded his speech by reminding the students of Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “A great leader can never lose hope.”
The formal programme concluded with the rendering of the National Anthem.
