Debutant director Anil Kumar Aalla says that 'Kalyanam Kamaneeyam' is going to be highly relatable. "Everyone of us is confident of its success," he says about the January 14th release, adding that the Censor Board members gave a thumbs-up to the film. The entertainer was given a clean 'U' by the CBFC last week.
Starring Santosh Shoban and Priya Bhavani Shankar as a married couple, the film is produced by UV Concepts.
I come from Guntur, where I was brought up and educated. I have no film background.
I have been inspired by so many filmmakers. Mani Ratnam inspires me at treating emotional scenes. When it comes to handling social issues, I like Shankar. When it comes to heroic highs and moments, I am inspired by Rajamouli.
Santosh Shoban is the right guy to play a guy-next-door role. UV Creations too recommended his name. The conflict in the movie is its USP; it's about a jobless husband and a working wife. We learn a great deal from each situation in life after we get married. What Shiva and Shruti learn as a married couple is what the film is about. I have not taken inspiration from any particular real-life couple. Ego games are replete in marital films like 'Mr. Pellam'. In 'KK', it is about how society influences a married couple's life.
'KK' is surely a Sankranthi film. Good stories have to be told for the festival audience. Both Santosh and Priya have nailed superb performances. They tried to outcompete each other. There are five songs in the movie, each composed by Shravan Bharadwaj. You won't find forced comedy. The troubles undergone by Shiva, the genuine wish of his wife that he finds a job, and the resultant conflict is what the film is about.
Cinema is about reliability. 'KK' is all about how relatable and true-to-life it is. I am inclined towards telling such stories. Rom-com is my most favourite genre. I also like watching action movies. Emotion is the key to any story.
UV Concepts treats its filmmakers like family. I am very happy to be a part of its family. I was given a free hand.
I am ready with the script for my next movie. It will be announced after the release of 'KK'. Thanks to OTT, the opportunities for filmmakers have gone up.
