'Pindam' is a raw, atmospheric horror-thriller directed by Saikiran Daida. This November release is set in three timelines: the present, the 1930s, and the 1990s. On Monday, its teaser was launched at an event in Hyderabad. The core team suggested that the nature of the scares in the film is both psychological and visual.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Srikanth Sriram stated that the movie was completed over a span of just two months. He described his co-star Kushee Ravi as a method actor. The female protagonist, who is from Sandalwood, said that she was initially nervous but eventually became comfortable with her Telugu lines.
Writer-director Saikiran Daida revealed that he wrote the story based on a stunning crime incident narrated to him by his grandmother. He did not speak of the sense in which the title 'Pindam' has been chosen.
Senior writer-producer Kona Venkat, who attended the event as a guest, described the film's director as a maker who sees things from a refreshing perspective. Writer BVS Ravi said that 'Pindam' is a bona fide genre film. "It takes a lot of conviction to make a genre film," he added.
Producer Yeshwanth Daggumati described the film's screenplay as tight and constantly engaging. He also thanked the technical team for giving their best. Writer-director-actor Srinivas Avasarala, who will be seen in an undisclosed role in 'Pindam', added that he adores the talent of cinematographer Satish Manoharan a great deal.
Starring Eswari Rao (who seems to be a narrator and a major character rolled into one), the film also features Ravi Varma, Manik Reddy, Baby Chaitra, Baby Leisha (as the possessed girl), Vijayalakshmi, and Srilatha. With the story written by Saikiran Daida, Kavi Siddhartha and Toby Osborne, this one has music by Krishna Saurabh Surampalli.
