Graduates’ Apparel Design Show Fashionistas of CHSc, PJTSAU.

Designers of APTX department at CHSC, PJTSAU, will showcase their collections at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, Secunderabad, on 2nd November 2015; in a Graduates’ Apparel design show titled ‘Nirmiti 2015 - Keep Alive’.

The department has contributed to qualitative teaching producing a number of graduates, post graduates and research scholars. Our motto is delivering quality education and empowering students and enriching their experiences. We take great pride in nurturing and promoting young talent through shows like these. It is indeed a privilege for the department of Apparel and Textiles to present debut appearances of fifteen young designers, to the fashion industry, through ‘Nirmiti 2015 - Keep alive’.

Bom out of a passion for Indian craft and heritage and defined by a strong Indian design base, these young designers present to the fashion world, a range of contemporary designs suitable for the young Indians - women & men alike!

‘Nirmiti 2015 - Keep alive’ is a humble tribute to hundreds of artisans and their unique craftsmanship. Through this show, the designers aim to empower both the ‘weavers’ & the ‘wearers’ and make it a memorable voyage by working with weavers, craftsmen and many more artisans to co- create unique functional designs. The student’s passion for culture and heritage reflects in each and every design creation of theirs!

In keeping with the philosophy of their inspirations, the fifteen designers showcase their collections under a unique label ‘Nirmiti 2015’. This label, the designers say, embodies their contemporary designs that celebrate our rich arts & crafts.

Their collection includes palazzos, pencil skirts, gracefully flared long gowns, tailored kurtas, cropped tops, bustiers and men’s executive wear. The silhouettes planned range from straight to boxy, pencil skirt to pencil frocks and circular to A-line silhouette with dropped waist. The color palette chosen ranged from amber yellows to burnt oranges, caramel browns to burgundy maroons, rosewood red to indogo blues, frosted whites to alabaster peaches and basic blacks. The fabrics and themes/muse chosen were khadi silk diversified with Dhokra crafts, Bandarulanka cotton sarees enriched with Dhimsa dance drape, Banjara embroidery with leather on cotton, Siddipet handlooms with Gollabhama and Bathukamma motifs, Lilliputian art on cotton silk, Toda embroidery on linen, Tunga mats teamed with cotton and cotton silk, Crochet add-ons a viscose rayon sheath and Deccani wool, Cave art with kalamkari technique on cotton, Cheryal paintings on Narayanapet sarees, Etikoppaka toys design on tussar silk, Ponduru khadi textiles, Angkor wat temple sculptures on combination of Glaxo dhoties and Muga silk, Mashru fabrics with bead work.

The collections consist of business wear, casual wear, formal wear and western wear, with indigenous accents bringing a modem contemporary approach to the original indigenous styles.

Six sponsors namely Department of Tourism, Telangana; Saptagiri Hotel; Ctrl S; SBH; Tirumala Bank, Telangana State financial corporation have made it possible for us to unveil the design collections to the fashion fraternity.

Generous contribution to the tune of Rs. Two Lakhs by the Department of Tourism, Telangana has helped the department to plan a show of such magnitude. The financial contributions of the sponsors have given the department the impetus for organizing this show.
