Project 511 works closely with the Government to mobilize and disburse funds and materials to improve the quality of education for disadvantaged children

Hyderabad, September 23, 2014: Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Project 511, committed to improving the quality of education imparted in Government schools, today unveiled its unique black-tie annual charity dinner 'Food For Change' (FFC), at the Hyderabad Marriott, as part of Daan Utsav (earlier known as Joy of Giving Week). The event will be conducted on 5th of October at JRC Conentions and is expected to be attended by dignitaries from the city including former badminton player P. Gopichand, former Indian cricketer WS Laxman, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu - the brand ambassadors of the Charity Initiative. Hyderabad Round Table No. 8 supports the NGO, and all proceeds from the charity dinner will go towards Project 511.

Mr. D Suresh Babu, Director, Suresh Productions, Mr. Anoop Ratnaker Rao, COO of Naandi Foundation and Chairman Hyderabad Round Table 8, Mr. Sujeet Govindaraju, CEO Zuci Energy and Convener Food for Change, addressed the media, sharing details about FFC and the vision and mission of Project 511.

FFC was a tremendous success last year, with over 1000 guests from Hyderabad's elite enjoying a unique experience. This year Hyderabad's top star hotels such as Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center, ITC Grand Kakatiya, Marriott, Avasa and Radisson Hitec will provide the culinary delight. Sri Chaitanya, Cyient, Lakamsani Group, MYK Laticrete and Penna Cements will sponsor the event.

In 2003, research on Government schools in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district unearthed the plight faced by the lesser privileged students who lacked access to even the basic necessities such as blackboards, toilets and notebooks in schools. The unfortunate state of these schools not only led to a severely compromised quality of education, but also resulted in high dropout rates. The need for a healthy and holistic environment led Hyderabad Round Table No. 8 (HRT 8) to create Project 511 in 2003.

Speaking on the occasion, Anoop Rao said, "This evening, it gives us great pleasure to be organizing the unique 'Food For Change' 2014 as an event that has helped change lives through Project 511.1 am proud to say that Project 511 works with 1022 schools and has impacted the lives of more than 500,000 children since it began! We continue to grow from strength to strength with each passing year."

"Project 511 focuses on six initiatives. These were chosen after thorough study of the needs of the schools and also core competencies of the team at Project 511. Initiatives are broadly classified as "Infrastructure" and "Competency" building. Infrastructure includes Operation Seating, Operation, Sanitation, and Operation Blackboard while Competency building includes Operation Matriculation, Operation Science Lab and Teaching and Learning Materials", he added.

Individuals such as Sridhar Yalamanchili - Director, Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions, Anantha Nageshwara - VP HR & IT MYK Laticrete, Krishna Lakamsani - Chairman, Lakamsani Group, Sharad Datta - General Manager, Marriott, Davinder Besoya - Resident Manager, ITC, Sudhir Nair - Executive Chef, Avasa Hotel, Muthuraman - Executive Chef, Novotel HICC, Vikas Grover - Executive Chef, Radisson Hitec, Kshira Reddy - Director, JRC Conventions, Sreecharan Atluri - Managing Director, Highbrow Production Services and Jaya Shree - Volunteer, Daan Utsav were present at the event and interacted with the media.
