Janhvi Kapoor's video with a food influencer has gone so viral that even a Congress MP has reacted to it. In the video, the 'Devara' actress treats her guest to Idli with Chicken curry. The influencer, a northern Indian, expresses disbelief when the actress says that Idli with non-veg tastes so well. The influencer calls it a weird combo and then goes on to taste the item with a spoon. This has had many southern Indians exclaim about her lack of knowledge about the culinary preferences of millions of non-vegetarians.
Karti P Chidambaram, the Congress MP from Tamil Nadu, shared the viral video today. He wrote, "Come to Karaikudi, will serve you the most delicious Idly, Kari Kolumbu, Chicken Vella Kurma, Fish Curry & Paya. Will go well with Dosai & Appam too. (It's a stereotypical myth that South Indians are vegetarians)."
The video has sparked a debate among Indians about the geographical variations in how one eats foods. "Until I married a Bangalorean, I didn't know Idli with Chicken Curry was a thing. And I grew up within 30 km of the North Karnataka border. It is sometimes easy to be comfortable within your culinary bubble in India until you move out and live like a local in another city," a Twitter user wrote.
Janhvi Kapoor awaits the release of 'Devara' on September 27. She will soon be shooting for a song with Jr NTR.
