As per NDTV, the film is not worth it. The website's scathing 2.5-star rating says it all. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and written by Niren Bhatt, the film is "no patch on 'Stree' and 'Bhediya' and probably only marginally better than 'Roohi'".
Indian Express had a negative review. "‘Munjya’ is neither funny-haha, nor does it make you want to look under your seat, despite its liberal use of jump-scares, and a CGI ghoul," the critic there wrote. Hindustan Times called the movie pretty average. "In a nutshell, Munjya is a heady mix of love, obsession, possession, black magic and horror," the reviewer said.
The Quint had some positive things to say about the movie. "There is just something special about hyperlocal horror told by someone who understands the folklore surrounding a region; the Konkan region in this case. If you are someone who grew up listening to elders tell horror stories from your village, folklore horror has an irreplaceable appeal," the reviewer wrote.
