'I Want To Talk', the Hindi-language drama starring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead, is helmed by Shoojit Sircar. Also featuring Ahilya Bamroo, Jayant Kripalani, Johnny Lever, and Kristin Goddard, the film was released on Friday.
"A father and his daughter navigate their routine lives in India until an unexpected medical diagnosis alters their path," the film's plot synopsis says. So, how is 'I Want To Talk'?
As per India Today, it is worthy of 4 on 5. "Shoojit Sircar's latest film tells the story of Arjun Sen, a marketing genius facing a life-changing cancer diagnosis and how he braves it, and all other curveballs thrown at him," the review says.
In its mixed review, Indian Express opined that Abhishek Bachchan’s performance is better than anything else he has done so far, but Shoojit Sircar’s drama is too understated. "AB lets go of vanity, revealing a thickened gut, and scars-on-the-belly, and an ability to bare. But Shoojit Sircar's film leaves you wanting more," the reviewer added.
Besides being understated, the film is also "convoluted". "I Want To Talk begins to feel a bit convoluted in the final act. It doesn’t seem to arrive at the wholesome quietude which it promises to. As the screenplay jumps further in time, its motivations start to become blurry," opined TNIE.
