AR Rahman has an advice for Anirudh Ravichander

There was a time when AR Rahman was the most sought-after music director in Kollywood. Even after the rise of Harris Jayaraj and Yuvan Shankar Raja, Rahman remained the highest-paid composer. In the 2010s and later, Anirudh has marched ahead. Among the GenZ, Anirudh is more popular than Rahman, especially because of his background scores.

At a recent event, ARR said that Anirudh needs to compose songs with a classical touch for longevity. "He is doing very good music. My small request to you is to come up with classical touches and raga-based tunes so that the longevity is much greater. Because when you do, it will reach the younger generation," Rahman stated.

Back in the 1990s, Rahman's songs used to be a rage. Even melodies such as 'O Cheliya' from 'Premikudu' were as popular as fast-paced songs like 'Urvasi Urvasi' and 'Chikubuku'.

Rahman is currently doing Ram Charan's 16th movie, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. Anirudh Ravichander is working on the Trivikram-Allu Arjun movie.
