Rahul, an upcoming actor made his acting debut in Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Happy Days’, followed by his next film ‘Rainbow’ under V N Aditya’s direction. ‘Mugguru’ is his third film which is also under V N Aditya’s direction. While he was shooting for the final schedule in Vizag, Ragalahari caught up with Rahul for a quick chit chat. Here are some excerpts:
‘Mugguru’ is a multi-starrer film just like ‘Happy Days’. What is the difference between these two films?
Honestly, it wasn’t a conscious attempt but it just happened and I’m happy about it. While ‘Happy Days’ was a college based movie, ‘Mugguru’ is a comedy entertainer. Both these movies are not very cinematic and the characters can be related to some extent. I’ve come across such characters in real life.
There is a large time gap between ‘Rainbow’ and this film. What is the reason?
Well, the break wasn’t purposeful but I want to do films which I totally believe in from all aspects, be it the story, the director or the production house. With the story being main priority, all these factors play a very important role in the success of a movie and more so for a newcomer who is trying to find a place in this industry. Also a few films had to happen for me but I chose to wait for the best one.
If not acting what profession would you choose?
I would be working in my dad’s companies.
What is your rapport with your current director V N Aditya?
Very good! It’s fun working with him, comfort level is good and I’m glad that I have done this film. I’m thankful to him for casting me again.
Do you have any role models in the film industry?
Quite a few.
Your educational background.
BBA
Your working experience with your co-stars in ‘Mugguru’.
Absolutely fun personified, made great friends like Srinivas and Navdeep who are well experienced than me. According to me the bonding off screen is very important because the same will be portrayed on the screen also. So if the audience will like a film, it is only because of the bonding that we are maintaining off screen. We all have together put in lot of efforts to make a good film.
Tell us about your character in the film and your heroine?
It’s basically a hilarious film. Specially all characters are very energetic. I did a little bit of homework before for this film and tried to understand my role. There are three heroines and I’m pairing with Sanjana.
Any plans to act in other languages?
Yup! I’m open to it.
Any unforgettable experience during the shooting of ‘Mugguru’?
Every single day, the bonding between the boys is something to watch out for in the theaters.
What is your favourite pass time?
Gaming, surfing the net and obviously watching movies.
You seem to be enjoying the Vizag atmosphere now.
Absolutely, I love the beach and people in Vizag are so cool. After ‘Happy Days’, this is the second time I’m shooting for in Vizag. And it’s the first time I did shooting for over two weeks here. I love the scenic view of Vizag from Ramanaidu Studios which I can say it as the best view in Andhra Pradesh.
For the first time you are acting under a big banner. How do you feel about that?
I feel blessed and fortunate to be acting in Suresh Productions so early in my career because it is a milestone in an actor’s career who is doing just his third film in one such banner. So it’s a great experience working in this banner. Ramanaidu garu is so energetic and I think he is like encyclopedia in films. Thus working with him is like a blessing.
When can we expect the film in theaters?
August.
After ‘Mugguru’ what next?
I’m doing couple of films, the announcements shall happen very soon, very excited about the next one as I feel that’s gonna be the most exciting role I’ve done so far.
