‘Naayak’ is the second film in the combination of Ram Charan and Kajal. They had superb chemistry in ‘Magadheera’ and repeated the same in ‘Naayak’. Besides Kajal, Ram Charan also shared his screen space with Amala Paul in this film. Directed by VV Vinayak and produced by DVV Danayya under Universal Media banner, the film opened to record number of theaters worldwide with outstanding box-office collections and won positive reviews from critics as well as the movie lovers. On this occasion Kajal was happier and appeared more confident while speaking to the media about just released ‘Naayak’. Here are few excerpts:
Your movie ‘Naayak’ has just released. Tell us something about it.
Firstly, my Sankranti wishes to all viewers. I thank the audience for making ‘Naayak’ such a huge hit. I’m glad that I was part of this wonderful movie. I’m extremely happy with the response and satisfied after watching the film, be it the script, songs or the way my character was portrayed. After a very long time I actually watched the film in theater along with the audience. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting amidst the audience and see their response.
Did working with Charan on this film reveal anything new about him?
‘Naayak’ being my 2nd film with Charan, I felt comfortable working with him again because we have already worked together for two years in the past. So we were able to understand each others’ nuances. I felt more comfortable with him while shooting for this film. There is a tremendous response for scenes and songs that involved me and Charan. I’m so happy that the movie is doing so well.
What was it like working with director Vinayak?
It’s my first film with VV Vinayak and it was a wonderful experience working with him. He is very understand and caring person. He is also very sweet and calm in real life. But his visualization on the screen is larger than life. I would love to work with him again.
Can you compare ‘Naayak with ‘Magadheera’?
‘Magadheera’ was a different kind of film and ‘Naayak’ is a different film. ‘Magadheera’ is an epic love story with lot of friction and it was larger than life. ‘Naayak’ on the other hand is more realistic, it’s more about today’s problems. It deals with issues in the society. Of course the characters in this film are extremely different…especially for Charan and me. Both are very enjoyable in their own respectable way and are incomparable.
So how did you and Amala bring out each other as co-stars?
I don’t have many scenes with Amala. I probably had one or two scenes with her. Still it was nice to work with her. She is a very hard working girl. I wish her all the best.
What is your favourite song from this movie soundtrack?
Honestly I like all the songs in the film. But one song which I like in terms of picturisation and music is ‘Kathi Laanti Pilla’. However, each song is different from other. I’m not going to be diplomatic about it. The songs were also picturised beautifully in Iceland and Slovenia, the two countries where no movie was shot before. So Vinayak experimented and tried something new for the first time.
Finally, what are your upcoming films?
My Hindi movie ‘Special Chabbeese’ is going to release in February, after that it’s ‘Baadshah’ in March. I’m also working in two other films – one with Karthi and one with Vijay, which are bilingual.
