Komal Jha worked as a civil engineer in Dubai before turning model cum actress. Later she understood that she can draw the public’s attention by maintaining glamour and art of acting. So she made her acting debut with a Malayalam film ’24 Hours’. Now, recently she was seen in a Telugu film titled ‘Priyatama Neevachata Kusalama’ and is ready to sizzle on silver screen with Jersey Plots’ ‘Chinna Cinema’. Komal is one of the four leading heroines in the film directed by A Kambampati. The film is releasing on April 19th. On this occasion, Ragalahari’s tête-à-tête with Komal Jha.
Is Komal your real name or screen name?
Yes. Komal Jha is my real name. I come from a very high class North Indian family. My Dad is a Philosopher and Author. I studied in
DAV Shyamali School , Ranchi , Jharkhand. I was the fifth state Rank Holder in 10th. I went to Bangalore for College. I finished BE in Civil Engineering from M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology. I was the topper of my College. I got placed in the Dubai Company on-campus and worked there for sometime.
While you were working as civil engineer in Dubai, what prompted you to leave your job and join films?
One day a Malayali Director saw me in a shopping mall and offered me the lead role in his film (24 Hours-Malayalam Thriller). After that I started getting ads and endorsements. So, I moved to Bombay after resigning of my job.
Which is your first film in Telugu and how did you get the opportunity?
Priyathama Neevachata Kusalama with Varun Sandesh is my first Telugu movie which released last month.
Title ‘Chinna Cinema’ as well the posters appear interesting and curious. Tell us a bit more about it.
Chinna Cinema, well...it’s a great movie. Very well shot. I am very impressed by the Producer as he has taken an active participation in everything. About my role I would say, "If ‘Chinna Cinema’ is a chess board, I play the QUEEN."
Are you satisfied with your role in ‘Chinna Cinema’?
I am very confident about this movie. I know Telugu audience will love me.
What is ‘Eduruleni Alexander’ about? When is it expected in theaters?
Eduruleni Alexander with Tarak Ratna is based on the life of a Police Inspector. It’s a proper commercial movie like Singham. We just finished shooting the song in Vizag. It’s expected to release within a months time at the maximum. It was great working with Tarak Sir. We share a good chemistry on screen too.
It’s known to all that Dhoni was your school-mate as well as your neighbour during your school days. You must have had some unforgettable moments with him.
Dhoni, well..yes we are from same place, same school and closed friends too. It’s been long since I moved to Dubai, so couldn't keep in touch.
How do you spend your free time?
My hobbies are very boring. I read a lot of books, novels. I write too. I compose poems. Since my Dad is a Published Author, I guess it comes in the genes.
What’s your next project?
I am also working with Venu in ‘Ramachaary’ and with Hemanth Hegde in Kannada movie ‘Nimbehuli’.
Any Bollywood chances?
I would start working in Bollywood from 2014. Couple of Hindi projects are in the pipeline. I will reveal everything once the confirmation is done.
Is there any hero that you are dreaming to share your screen space?
I would love to do a movie with Nagarjuna as I am his big fan since childhood.
