Young Tiger NTR starrer ‘Nannaku Prematho’ directed by Arya Sukumar and produced by top producer BVSN Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra India Ltd. banner with Reliance Entertainment as presenter, is releasing worldwide on January 13. On this occasion, an interview has been given by the director Sukumar. Here are few excerpts from his interview
So far there are many films have come based on father sentiment. How different ‘Nannaku Prematho’ is going to be?
Many would have done many films. When we talk about father sentiment many have their own perception. There is no ending even if we express that emotion in many ways there will still be a new angle. In this film I am showing my own angle of that emotion. Parent sentiment is universal you will get to know only when we feel it. I got to know this when my father has gone to heavens. I readied this script during that period.
What was NTR’s reaction after listening to the script?
If we love a person we have to accept his defects. If we love someone we love their emotions unconditionally. We always see some or the other emotion in Tarak. At first I thought of a script and wanted to go aead with that. But I became emotional after my my father’s demise. I felt that I could not do any emotional film at that point in time. But Tarak loved this new script which I have readied after that. If we want to convey the story to everyone the film has to be a commercial one.
NTR is in a different look. Whose idea was that?
Sometimes mistakenly creadit comes to me but it should go to NTR. Everyone said that we both wore the same look. I copied him. This getup will be ery useful in driving the film.
Have you designed the character of Jagapathi Babu with a villain in mind?
No. I have first readied the script and later worked on the characters. And finally rounded of Jagapathi Babu.
NTR’s performance?
In this NTR played Abhiram. Everyone follows three things. Knowing. Learning and implementing. But in Tarak’s case we find only two steps. Knowing and implementing. That saves us a lot time as there is nothing like learning. He became hero as he is from Nandamuri clan. Otherwise he would have discovered something and would have become a world hero. He can carry any emotion. We can’t imagine any other hero apart from NTR.
How have you and Tarak carried the emotional journey?
Tarak connected to the script well. He was into tears in one emotional scene. Tears rolled on cameramen’s and my cheeks. Foreign crew were also in tears. Like that, everyone connected to the emotional element. It became very difficult to carry everyone from emotional side to logical side.
As a director compared to other films how satisfied are you with this?
After all we live some 50 to 60 odd years. Even at this stage I connect a lot with the same crew. Tarak is like a drug. Working with Tarak is a wonderful and unforgettable journey. We developed good relationship.
Your next projects?
After taking 3 months gap, I will direct a film in which Devi Sri Prasad is hero.
