How was it working with director Mani Rathnam?
Our relationship is not something new. I have worked with Mani sir as an assistant director for two years. That was a decade ago. Now he is directing me and I feel special to act under him. For me it is a dream come true to work with him. He knows what he wants and will not stop until he gets what he has in his mind.
Tell us about your role in the film?
I am a fighter pilot in the film, who falls in love with an army doctor. Its an unusual lovestory. My role required me to look cool and composed for my role. It was hard for me.
How did you prepare for the role?
Once I decided to be part of this film, I went to my brother Suriya for inspiration. He told me start working out to look my part. I was inspired by a role where my brother acted as an army officer. I have really worked hard for this role and I hope I impress.
Cheliya, what's that all about?
Like I said before it is a love story and has strong emotions. The film does not have much of action. The characters are realistic and the film is strong.
Is this your favorite kind of film?
I don't have favourite genre. I will do as my director asks me to do. I never go with what I want. Simply put I am a director's man.
