Vijay Deverakonda will be seen as a journalist in the film Mahanati. He is very excited about the film and did it just for Swapna and Nag Ashwin. The actor talks about his films and what Arjun Reddy’s success did to him.
What has Arjun Reddy’s success done to you?
Contrary to what many think it has not gone into my head. As a person I have changed and see things from different perspective. I am more sensible now. If I don’t like a script I just reject it. Even if it is from a big production house.
How did Mahanati happen?
Swapna and Nag Ashwin gave me a big break and I did this film just for them. Initially I was approached for Gemini Ganeshan’s role. I was not ready for this role. Then Dulquer who initially said no to this role agreed to do it. Since I wanted to be a part of this film I did a cameo.
Tell us about Taxiwaala?
It is not a regular dance and song film. It is a thriller and you will love it. I play the role of a cabbie who gets into trouble with his car. I am sure the youth will love this one.
You are debuting into Tamil with Nota…
Yes that happened because of Geetha Arts and Studio Green. When I heard the script of Nota I knew that I had to do this film. It’s totally different. I look for roles that challenge me as an actor and this one does that.
What other genres are you trying?
I know many are tired of seeing me in serious roles. In Bharat Kamma’s film which is a romantic one you will see me in a different angle. This one will be different in terms of making and narration.
Any plans to move into Bollywood?
Nope. Bollywood is something different. For now I am not interested in Hindi films. But it would be interesting to see how Shahid Kapoor will reprise my role in Arjun Reddy.
