Music director Kaala Bhairava is keeping his fingers crossed ahead of the release of 'Thellavarithe Guruvaram' on March 27. It stars his brother, Sri Simha, as the male lead. In this interview, the young composer talks about the film, his journey in the film industry so far and more.
My first film, 'Mathu Vadalara', saw myself and Simha uniting. I never imagined that we will team up for our debut movies. And I am the composer of Simha's second movie, too. This was not planned. It's only after Simha came on board that I was roped in. I will compose music for his third movie as well. So, I and my brother have united back-to-back thrice. It feels very happy.
Our creative tastes have always matched since childhood. I and Simha discuss a lot about movies. I give him feedback on his acting. And he talks about my music regularly.
Tarak garu poured his heart out during the pre-release event recently. It's a long and deep association. I have known him since 'Student No. 1'. I was a schoolboy back then. Our entire family has had a special relationship with him.
It's one of my biggest dreams to compose music for Tarak garu's movie. But I have to earn it before I move on to work with him. When I sang 'Peniviti' song for 'Aravindha Sametha', it was a special experience.
'Thellavarithe Guruvaram' has got three songs, all of which are situational. These days, only situational songs are being preferred by directors. Coming to the BGM, I kept in mind the fact that the entire story unfolds over the span of a night. It's an emotional and fun drama.
Since 'Rang De' and 'Aranya' are releasing on March 26, we have chosen March 27. Moreover, Holi is nearing. A lot of Telugu movies are waiting to release in theatres. That's why we had to choose a Saturday.
I feel happy to have worked on 'Mathu Vadalara' and 'Colour Photo', both of which belong to two different genres. The latter was an exciting project, given its genre. My priority is to do a lot of genres. But whether I get the opportunities is not in my hands.
My father (MM Keeravani) is quite encouraging. But his constructive feedback is brief. He doesn't appreciate us too much. There are instances in the last 2-3 years where I sought suggestions from him. But I don't seek his advice on a regular basis.
Different musicians have different styles. No matter how much I try, my father's influence on my music is only to be expected. It's up to me how well I come out of the shadow of his musical influence. My quest to be unique will be a constant process. Keeravani garu is my all-time favourite musician. I do seek clarifications from Rajamouli garu.
When I am working on my brother's movie, it's natural that I am more emotionally involved. Simha has matured as an actor. 'Mathu Vadalara' was a moody movie. On the other hand, 'Thellavarithe Guruvaram' has got a wide range. There is a spectrum of emotions that Simha and the two heroines emote. I have watched the final copy and it was a pleasant feeling. I can't wait to see the audience's reactions on Saturday.
