'Pushpaka Vimanam' will be released in theatres this Friday (November 12). In this interview, budding actress Geeth Saini talks about her background, her character in the comedy thriller, working with Anand Deverakonda, her future plans, and more.
I was born in Maharashtra. For a decade, I have been in Hyderabad after my father migrated here due to his job. I am passionate about dance and have always practised Megastar Chiranjeevi's dances. I got a movie offer and felt that this is a platform to showcase my talent. I landed 'Pushpaka Vimanam' after my friend sent my profile to the casting director. I attended the audition and the director (Damodara) felt that I am apt. My debut movie didn't release in theatres, unfortunately.
When this movie came my way, my father accepted immediately. I was surprised pleasantly. He is a fan of Sita from 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu'. Probably, he always wished that I become an actress.
I come from a conservative family which doesn't watch movies in theatres. But I am a movie buff myself and watch a variety of genres on TV. When the director narrated the story of 'PV', I was thrilled. I knew that I wanted to do something like this. I am a big fan of K Viswanath garu's movies. I am a lover of art. In 'Swarna Kamalam', Bhanu Priya's name is Meenakshi, which is also my name in this film. My friends started calling me Meenu' in my college days because they felt that the name suits me the most.
Anand Deverakonda is Sundar, my husband in the movie. My character elopes after marriage with him. Some people were apprehensive that playing such a character right at the beginning of my career might have repercussions. But I totally loved the character and characterization.
Anand made me feel very comfortable. He is a brilliant actor and is a perfect choice to play Sundar. The director had told me not to interact too much with others during the shoot. He wanted me to stay in the mood. The environment on the set was very new to me.
Most of my scenes are with Anand. I have no scenes with Sunil garu and Naresh garu, unfortunately. But I would be on set to watch the experienced actors act. I wanted to learn by observing them.
I look very different in the movie. My make-up and costumes are apt. We collaborated with a salon for my look.
I love dancing, and love to do the kind of characters that Sai Pallavi is doing. If I feel my character is very good, I will go for it.
