'Anubhavinchu Raja' heads to the theatres on November 26. In this interview, director Sreenu Gavireddy talks about the film, its subject, working experience with Raj Tarun and producer Akkineni Nagarjuna, his future plans, and more.
The entertainer is jointly produced by Annapurna Studios and Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP.
I am from a small village near Vizag. I take inspiration from Puri Jagannadh garu, whose films I like a lot. But you won't find his influence on 'Anubhavinchu Raja'. I directed a movie in 2016, besides writing a story for a Sai Kumar garu movie. They didn't do well at the box office.
The title suggests that there is a hedonist in every one of us. But what they do with life eventually depends on the person. How Raj Tarun's character evolves in the story is the crux of the movie.
There was a time when I would find it hard to gain access to Annapurna Studios. Today, I have directed a movie for the banner. When producer Supriya Yarlagadda garu listened to the story, she enjoyed a lot. She connected with the emotions embedded in the story. After her, Naga Chaitanya garu too listened to the story. The final judge was Nagarjuna garu.
The male protagonist wants to become the President of the village. But the film is not about this. There is another element that is the crux. Raj Tarun plays a security guard in the city. I learned about the difficulties undergone by the security guards during the training and later.
We shot the film in Bhimavaram and nearby villages for 40 days. The 'kodi punju' sport is popular here. And the cockfight element is a major element in our movie. Raj Tarun was both my choice and that of the producer. The character totally suits his style. I wrote the script in collaboration with one Madhu.
Kashish Khan is part of a track where a character is in search of a girl with curly hair. She has done a nice job. It was a pleasure working with composer Gopi Sundar. He was not particular about his remuneration. Ajay, 'Bigg Boss' Ravi, Sudarshan and others have got very good roles. We chose Naren because he is apt. Moreover, a couple of actors we had considered for the character were not available. I am confident that the family audience are going to love our movie.
I worked in the writing team of 'Krack'. I am also working on the Balakrishna-Gopichand Malineni movie. My next directorial will be under a noted banner. I am working on my strengths. Entertainment is my biggest strength. I also like family emotions.
