Sree Vishnu awaits the release of 'Arjuna Phalguna' on December 31. In this interview, the actor talks about the film, the Godavari backdrop of the story, director Teja Marni's skills, his future projects, and more.
'Arjuna Phalguna' is my third release this year (after 'Gaali Sampath' and 'Raja Raja Chora'). I have mostly chosen directors with excellent writing skills. Most of them have been debutant directors. For a change, Teja Marni is not a debutant. He is very good at milking emotional moments. He has exceeded my expectations. If the film could be shot in 55 days, it's only because of his skills. The entire shoot was done outdoors. Teja will surely go a long way.
The title 'Arjuna Phalguna' has a throwback to the Mahabharatham. There is also a mythical story associated with the words 'Arjuna', 'Phalguna' and other names. Our Puranas speak of them. With the passage of time, 'Arjuna' and 'Phalguna' have been spoken in quick succession by people. Reciting the words can give inner strength is the belief. The words have positive vibrations, elders say.
The story takes place in the Godavari region's backdrop. We are five friends in the film. They are fresh graduates and are whiling away their time. Most youngsters, after their graduation, seek to migrate to cities. But they want to stay put in their village and make adequate monies to support themselves and their parents. They are naive.
I have mouthed my lines in rooted slang. You will see my language being true to the Godavari nativity.
We are not purging out the line related to Grama Volunteer (despite some people objecting to the allegedly political overtones of the line). The dialogue has a context. Amritha Aiyer's character is a Grama Volunteer and others try to pull her legs out of envy. There is nothing wrong or controversial there. If something is offensive, I myself would want it removed.
I and my friends in the film are fans of Jr NTR garu. We have shown the fanism in a healthy manner. There are no cheap ideas in the name of supporting him.
The story is set in a village. The village atmosphere and vibes are going to suck you into the story in 5 minutes. The element of friendship will stand out. 'Middle Class Melodies' Chaitanya, 'Raja Vaaru Rani Vaaru' fame Chowdhary, Amritham Aiyer and 'Rangasthalam' Mahesh are the other friends in the story. Just because I am the male lead, my character has got no special importance. Everyone is consequential. Teja Marni has made every one of us a hero.
Priyadarshan is a new music director. His BGM is awesome. He will go a long away for sure. The dialogues, too, are by a newcomer named Sudheer Varma P. They are so natural that they feel like real-life conversations.
'Bhala Thandanana' is my upcoming movie. A movie in the production of Lucky Media is another of my movies. Let me not talk about their genres now. They are surely big-span movies.
It's true that there is uncertainty currently. But we have no other option. Early next year, big-ticket movies are going to have a wave. So, we have chosen December 31st. Moreover, ours is an optimistic movie and suits the New Year mood.
