'F3' is hitting the cinemas this May 27. In this interview, music director Devi Sri Prasad, who enjoys the moniker 'Rockstar', talks about the Anil Ravipudi directorial's virtues and what it means to compose tunes for an out-and-out comedy entertainer meant for the family audience.
I am cocksure that 'F3' will entertain the audience in a big way. I watched the movie while composing BGM and I fell down the chair laughing. It is as hilarious as the movies made by EVV Satyanarayana and Jandhyala.
Venkatesh garu is cute in the movie, while Varun Tej has done an amazing job. The rest of the cast, too, are going to keep you convulsing with laughter.
It was hardly stressful to collaborate with a filmmaker like Anil Ravipudi. His narration is always visual. He emotes the performances of all actors himself. That's why the comic timing in his movies is always spot-on.
Coming to the music, 'F3' has got both generic as well as situational songs. 'Lub Dub Dabbu' and 'Life Ante Itla Undala' are related to the movie's theme. The former has been received so well by listeners. As for the latter, its sound is new.
I and Dil Raju garu have collaborated on movies repeatedly. He has seen an unmatched success rate in the industry. His passion is superlative. He treats every project as his first one.
Unlike a melody, which is rooted in the mood of the film, an item song is purely meant for entertainment. Since an item song is not bound by any rules, the composer's degree of freedom goes up. I okay a tune only when I am convinced that it can make me jive. If it can fill 'josh' in me, I work on the tune.
'Rowdy Boys', which was released earlier this year, remains my favorite album. 'Good Luck Sakhi' and 'Aadavallu Meeku Joharlu', too, came out well. It is another matter that some albums have a wider reach than others. 'Rangasthalam' was meant for the Telugu audience but even non-Telugus loved its music. The song 'Nee Kallu Neeli Samudram' from '30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela' was another chartbuster that had a wide reach. The songs of 'Pushpa: The Rise' became a hit nationwide.
The reason music directors are based in Chennai is because a good number of musicians are settled here. The ecosystem is far more developed here compared to Hyderabad.
