'Gurthunda Seethakalam', the remake of 'Love Mocktail' (Kannada), is hitting the cinemas on December 9. Actress Kavya Shetty has a prominent role in the movie. In this interview, she talks about bagging the film, working with Satyadev Kancharana, why she is excited about her Telugu launch, and more.
I have done 15-16 movies in Kannada. I have also done a movie each in Tamil and Malayalam. 'Gurthunda..' is my Telugu debut. Director Nagashekar is from Sandalwood. When I approached him for an offer in Kannada, he asked me to do the Telugu remake of 'Love Mocktail'.
I have been receiving glamorous roles. Even in Kananda, I have got such roles. My Tamil film had me in a little bit de-glam role.
My character in 'Gurthunda..' is present in the college campus love story portions. Ammu is the name of my character. She is part of the male lead's two phases in life.
I am not nervous ahead of the release of this movie. 'GS' was supposed to hit the cinemas in February itself. Due to some issues, it got delayed. The Kannada original was a major hit. Compared to Kannada, the Telugu version is quite different and richer in scale. Tamannaah Bhatia is its heroine, after all.
I am very happy to have acted opposite Satyadev. I liked him thoroughly in 'Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya'. He is hard-working, humble and helpful. He helped me with acting tips on the set. He is very simple and down to earth. Our portions have a lot of romance. I hope the audience love our chemistry. It was a great learning experience working with him.
My role is not a usual one. In some scenes, you will like Ammu. In other scenes, you will be disgusted with her. So, my character is complex. In Tamannaah's portions, the mood is serious and emotional. In my portions, the mood is comical. Priyadarshi will also be seen in my portions. Given the diversity, everyone is going to connect with the film.
I love winters. 'GS' was shot in winters, and most of the story takes place in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. It was a great movie to do. There was no stress at any point. It was a long, lovely journey. It's also a perfect launch film for me, considering there is glamour as well.
The songs are montages. I hope the audience will connect with the songs, composed by Kaala Bhairava, better while watching the movie.
My Telugu is not fluent. That's why I didn't dub for my character. I dub in Kannada, though.
Nobody can beat Rashmika Mandanna. She is a Kannadiga who came to Telugu from Sandalwood after 'Kirik Party'. The likes of Pooja Hegde have a Kannada connection as well.
I have three Kannada movies coming up. There is a web series coming up on Amazon Prime Video. A release in Malayalam with Prithviraj Sukumaran is also happening.
