'Prema Desam' stars Thrigun (aka Arun Adith) and Megha Akash in the lead. Ajay Kathurvar, Shiva, and Maya are playing the other lead pair. Director Srikanth Siddham today said that the film is an emotional romantic drama where two love stories are told.
Actress Madhubala is playing the role of a mother. Also featuring Vaishnavi Chaithanya, Thanikella Barani, Viva Harsha, and Kamal Teja Narla, the film has cinematography handled by Sajad Kaakku and music by Mani Sharma.
The film will head to the theatres on February 3.
I come from a software background. Even while working in the corporate sector, I made some short films and gained confidence. I gradually took to feature films. I hail from Karimnagar. I moved to Hyderabad to do a job. I worked in the US for some time. I returned to India only owing to my passion for movies. By doing short films, which I myself produced, I learned about the art of managing people on set. I have realized that trusting all and sundry is not healthy.
There are two love stories, but this film is not an anthology. I felt that an anthology would have weakened the emotional core. The two love stories coincide somewhere in the mould of something like a hyperlink screenplay. There is an element that connects the two love stories. I was inspired by Mani Ratnam's 'Yuva' in writing the screenplay. The genre of 'Yuva' is different from the genre of 'Prema Desam', though.
Thrigun is not the only hero. There are two other heroes: Ajay and Shiva. Megha Akash was the first heroine I approached. And she accepted the story immediately. I chose her because she looks cute and is apt for the character.
'Prema Desam' is about multiple relationships, involving youngsters and a mother's character as well. It's a world of love. The story takes place in front of a cafe named Prema Desam. The cafe is witness to the happenings in the lives of the protagonists.
Although 'Prema Desam' is the title of a classic, I didn't feel intimidated by the challenge. Our film doesn't spoil the old Prema Desam's image in any way. It will live up to the title.
Mani Sharma's musical flavour is a special feature of our movie. I am a fan of his music. He has mostly done commercial films. He is the composer of classics such as 'Kushi' and 'Murari'. In recent years, his talent hasn't been deployed for love stories. 'Prema Desam' is the first film to do it in a long time. His background music will stand out.
Madhubala garu plays a mother. It's a feel-good relationship between a mother and her son. She brings innocence to the table. She plays a character that must look beautiful because there is a scene where a young version of the mother is shown. She does movies rarely and only if she loves the story. Modern mothers are liberal-minded when it comes to their children's love life. Madhubala garu played such a mother.
The trailer and songs have been a success. Those who invested in 'Prema Desam' have already committed to supporting me for my upcoming projects. I am in talks for a big banner.
We are going to screen 'Prema Desam' for the media before its theatrical release.
