Director Vijay Binni says that the soul of the Malayalam original 'Porinju Mariam Jose' hasn't been tinkered with in remaking it as 'Naa Saami Ranga'. Describing the Sankranthi release as a friendship-oriented movie, he says that choosing Allari Naresh for the friend's character was a conscious choice.
Starring Akkineni Nagarjuna in the lead, the film will hit the cinemas on January 14. In this interview, Vijay says that he is extremely lucky to have worked with a trusting hero like Nag. "For a debutant like him, his support was everything," he adds.

Although this is a remake, the treatment has been redesigned to suit Telugu nativity. This is a period drama taking place in the 1980s and 1990s. Friendship is the core element. You will find it refreshing. The film is a pack of individual characters and their situations. Raj Tarun is not Nag garu's friend in the movie.
There are many surprises in the film. You will enjoy watching them! I have for long planned to see Nag garu in a particular way. With 'NSR', I could stage him in a rugged, massy avatar.
