In 'Saindhav', Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the Numero Uno villain who confronts Venkatesh's ferocious character. Cast in the role of a gangster, the versatile actor will be seen locking horns with the hero in high-octane scenes.
Set to hit the cinemas on January 13, 'Saindhav' is directed by Sailesh Kolanu of 'HIT' fame. In this interview, Siddiqui says that, sometimes, negative roles offer greater scope to perform than positive roles.
Sailesh Kolanu has etched a unique role that interests the audience throughout. Vikas Malik is the name of my character. This is my first Telugu film and I even dubbed my character, who speaks in the Hyderabadi language, a combination of Telugu and Hindi. I don't believe in prompting. The director's writing made me want to lend depth to the character by lending my voice. He is full of clarity and knows what he is doing. His level of detailing is shockingly deep.
I allotted about 40 working days for the movie. I am satisfied with the length of my role. My character is significant in the scheme of things. I hope that the emotions are going to strike the right chord with the audience. I have combination scenes with Venkatesh sir and one scene with Shraddha Srinath. Venkatesh is a talented actor and I have seen his movies. I liked his 'Anari' in Hindi.
The Sri Lanka schedule was breathtaking. I row a boat with force in a scene. Unexpectedly, a tide swept up the boat and I lost the grip. Fortunately, I landed in the boat itself. That shot is there in the movie.
I know that 'Saindhav' is not going to be released simultaneously in Hindi. I am just an actor. There are no language barriers in the pan-Indian cinema era. Those from UP and other States are not conscious of which language a film is from. Venkat Boyanapalli of Niharika Entertainment has been a nice producer to work with.
I take failures in my stride. Setbacks don't affect me much. I look at the satisfaction of doing experimental films. The audience are inclined to watch regular commercial films in theatres.
I know Nani here in Telugu. I got to discuss movies with him once. I also know Rana Daggubati. Many actors down South are very talented. I want to do a biopic of Osho (Bhagawan Rajneesh).
My advice to aspiring actors is to retain their originality. Don't imitate or ape others. Be yourself on screen.
