'Record Break', directed by Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao and produced by Chadalavada Padmavati under the banner of Sri Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara Films, will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and a few other languages on March 8. Nihar Kapoor and Ragdha Iftakar (a model turned actress) will be seen in lead roles.
In his latest interview, Srinivasa Rao says that he will be mounting a superior Hollywood-range film if 'Record Break' attains even 35% marks.
With time, the risk factor in producing films went up with budgets skyrocketing. The remuneration of artists kept on growing by leaps and bounds. As a producer, I am cost-conscious. That's why I have played safe. In the last 15 years, the number of producers has come down. Presenting 'Bicchagadu' in Telugu convinced me that content matters. It changed my track. I used to be a small-time businessman decades ago. Thanks to the support of several individuals, I have grown in stature as a producer over the decades.
'Record Break' is the apt title for our movie. The other day, when we screened the movie to the media and others, they all felt that the title is perfectly suitable.
The male artists who have been cast in 'Record Break' had to be bulked-up. We made this movie without compromising on quality. We have trimmed the slow portions to make the film tighter. In the last five years, we have worked tirelessly. The quality of VFX will speak for itself.
In 'Bicchagadu', it was a son's sacrifice for his mother. In 'Record Break', it is a mother's sacrifice for her kids. She gets adventurous, makes immense sacrifices, and goes through a lot of struggles.
'Head Constable Venkatramayya' was such a big hit that it had housefull collections for two weeks in centres like Vizag. 'Record Break' will withstand no matter how much competition there is at the box office. I am not targeting a wide release. I want it to grow organically like 'Bicchagadu'.
I don't hanker after publicity. I will never do movies with big movies with star heroes. I haven't been doing enough films only because of this conviction of mine. If I wanted to work with star heroes, I would have done it with many star heroes across the country.
The success rate has come down because, in the past, the director and producer used to work in tandem. Later, the producer got replaced by the hero. And now, the director and hero play the producer as per their whims!
I have worked with Sobhan Babu, ANR and Krishna in the past. I got to team up with awesome filmmakers like KS Nageswara Rao, Sadisava Rao, among others. I have made it from a humble beginning.
If 'Record Break' gets even pass marks, my next film will be superior to even a Warner Bros. film. I want my morale to be boosted and that's it. I learned filmmaking by directing 'Record Break'.
