Gulabi, Ninne Pelladatha, Sindhuram, Anthapuram, Murari, Khadgam, Chakram, Rakhi and Chandamama are the best examples of this most talented director. Krishna Vamsi, the man who is thirsty to experiment new concepts is back with yet another youthful romantic flick ‘Sasirekha Parinayam’. With young pair Tarun and Genelia, Sunkara Madhumurali produced the film under Karthikeya Creations banner. Manisharma is the music director. On January 1, 2009, on the eve of film’s release Krishna Vamsi talks about ‘Sasirekha Parinayam’.
It is learnt that your film Sasirekha Parinayam is based on Sasirekha’s marriage episode in the classic “Maya Bazaar”. What is your comment on that?
It’s absolutely baseless though the media speculate certain relationship between ‘Maya Bazaar’ and my film. Infact I started the shooting without any title and decided on ‘Sasirekha Parinayam’ when we were almost fifty percent through.
What is the main theme of the story?
It revolves around a broad minded girl who falls in love. Our aim is to project the journey of life of one such girl who normally is in the surrounding of a handful of people before marriage and different set of handful of people after marriage.
How would you classify this film?
It is a classic family entertainer. I’ve taken this movie to project a certain kind of feeling which is a degree above the love.
People think that this is the remake of the Hindi flick ‘Jab We Met’. What do you say?
This is not a copy of any film. Infact there are many films in Indian languages which are either copy or do resemble some Hollywood flicks. To cite an example Raj Kapoor’s ‘Chori Chori’ was said to be a resemblance of Hollywood’s 1951 flick ‘It Happens One Night’. Similarly ‘Roman Holidays’ was also linked with this. These are called Road Films. My movie also may be yet another Road Film but certainly not a copy. You can expect a very good entertainment here.
There is a general opinion that you are not economical in making a film. Is it so?
I pity such people who comment without knowledge. If this is my practice then how producers entrust me with this assignment? Just ignore this.
How do you rate Genelia’s performance in this film?
I’ve seen Genelia in ‘Bommarillu’ and have decided her character accordingly. I find her having shown a very good improvement in ‘Sasirekha Parinayam’ over her role in ‘Bommarillu’.
How about Tarun?
You have seen Tarun all along as a chocolate boy. But here he will shed his chocolate boy look and you will find him to have been graduated to a man from a boy with a tremendous maturity.
Tell us about the music in this film.
Lyrics are penned by Seetarama Sastry who has been my guru and stood strongly by my side in many of my projects. Manisharma also has shown his innovative approach in each song.
Why don’t we find you in the race for top directors?
I am a different kind of director and never dreamt of being in big league and making big money. My aim is to give a proper entertainer with certain message in it. I am happy as long as people enjoy my films and the message reaches them.
Can you give an idea about your next projects?
A movie in political backdrop is being worked out in memory of Srikanth’s 100th film. We have plans to launch this during Sankranthi.
