Senior journalist and writer-director Prabhu and his wife Madhavi have come to the rescue of hungry people during the pandemic. For 12 days, the couple supplied food packets, biscuits, fruits and other essentials to scores of poor people. It's learned that they cooked rice and other food items at home by themselves, packed and distributed them to the poor people living outside a few famous landmarks in Hyderabad.
Speaking about the charity work, Prabhu said, "We helped the destitute during last year's floods in Hyderabad. Earlier, during the devastating Chennai floods, too, we did our best to supply essentials to the poor. It gives us satisfaction to help the needy during calamities. This time, we helped the needy starting from May 30 for 12 days. We would start the process of preparing food quite early in the morning and reach out to orphans and other hungry people by afternoon. We distributed food to patients, paramedics, security personnel and others at NIMS as well. Biscuits and fruits, too, were distributed."
Prabhu said that it was not easy to do the distribution work, considering that the hungry would jostle and social distancing went for a toss. "I thank my wife Madhavi on this occasion. Her help was of immense value," he added.
