Bollywood has been panned by many, including Bollywoodians, for failing to make mass masala blockbuster cinema like 'Pushpa', 'RRR', 'KGF' and 'Vikram'. Actor Varun Dhawan, who is a well-known middle-range star in Hindi, has said that the Hindi film industry has stopped making certain kind of films because of the influence of the West on its cinematic vision.
"We have stopped making big-scale, masala family entertainers because we are too influenced by the West," Varun Dhawan has been quoted as saying by PTI. By this, he might mean to say that Western cultural sensibilities have corrupted many filmmakers.
Only the likes of Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are doing masala entertainers. If Prabhas, Allu Arjun and Yash have become popular in Bollywood, the reason is that they are doing films most Hindi stars are willing to do.
Meanwhile, the actor's latest Hindi release 'JugJugg Jeeyo' has successfully grossed Rs 100 Cr after a slow start. Also featuring Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Kiara Advani, the film is a family entertainer.
