'Dead Pixels' will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on May 19. The web show's pre-release event was attended by the who's who of the team. The comedy-drama tells the story of three online friends named Meg, Nicky, and Usman whose insane fascination for a role-playing fantasy video game named Kingdom Scrolls triggers unexpected consequences.
Speaking on the occasion, the show's director Aditya Mandala said that youngsters will like the content for sure. He revealed that Niharika's is a grey character. The web series's versatility and its diverse characters, he said, make it unique.
Niharika Konidela said that the show will connect with all age groups and all sections of audience. This is her first OTT outing in four years. Going by the trailer, she has got a Westernized and semi-Indianized role in the show.
Written by Akshay Poolla, the series also features Harsha Chemudu, Sai Ronak, Akshay Lagusani and Bhavana Sagi. The show is an adaptation of the British comedy series of the same name. The series depicts the relationships and social interactions of "new-age introverts".
True to its original content, the Telugu-language adaptation is about the power of forming online communities in the age of social media. How far the sensibilities of the show will appeal to the Indian viewers has to be seen.
