Recently, former actress and Bigg Boss Tamil inmate Vichitra said that a big star made sexual overtures to her while shooting for a Telugu movie in 2001. She added that the film's fight master slapped her for refusing the star hero's advances. The speculation has been that she was talking about Nandamuri Balakrishna and Vijay Master. The film was 'Bhalevadivi Basu'.
In Sunday's Bigg Boss Tamil episode, host Kamal Haasan appreciated Vichitra for not naming the harasser. Netizens have been criticizing the 'Vikram' actor for policing the actress. They reminded him that the actress didn't name the star hero because she knew the repercussions of doing so. "Kamal thinks he is placed in a position to decide how women should share their stories of sexual harassment and makes it all about himself by focussing on his validation for the victim more than anything else," lamented a Twitter user.
"Abusers will have no impact on their careers and go on to become big stars but women who have been affected not just mentally and physically but also career-wise have to speak in a dignified manner without naming any abuser, without holding anger," a Twitter user wrote with a tinge of sarcasm.
