'Adipurush' director Om Raut was today in Ayodhya to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir. When he shared via Twitter his pic clicked on the premises of the grand temple, Netizens resorted to shaming him.
"This is like Vijay Mallya being invited to the inauguration of SBI branch," quipped a Twitter user, implying that Mallya who cheated the SBI by defaulting on thousands of crores of rupees of loan is akin to Raut making a bad movie on Lord Ram. "Promise to Shri Ram that you will never make a movie again. Do it immediately," wrote another Netizen. "Om Raut is trying his best to rectify his sins of Adipurush (sic)," tweeted another social media user. "Om Raut should be given the cleaner's job at Ram Mandir premises for 5 years for the atrocities his creation has wreaked to the divine sanctity of the almighty and his virtues," wrote an angry Hindu user.
After the release of 'Adipurush' last year, the film's dialogue writer told a news channel that the film was not intended to narrate the Ramayana but was actually a fictional film based on the epic. The volte face angered many at that time.
