Last year, many exhibitors staged a dharna demanding that they be compensated for the losses made on 'Liger'. Their demand was directed at Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur. Those exhibitors had purportedly loaned crores of rupees to distributor Warangal Srinu toward acquiring the rights to the Vijay Deverakona movie. At that time, Warangal Srinu talked about the quantum of losses incurred by him. Srinu bought the rights to the theatrical release of the movie for the entire South India by paying Rs 55 Cr on an NRA basis. He later sold the movie to other distributors. He released the film in Nizam on his own. In Nizam, he made losses to the tune of Rs 18 Cr.
Warangal Srinu has been demanding compensation for the huge losses incurred. The issue has been looked into by the Film Chamber of Commerce. On Thursday, the Chamber reportedly told Puri Connects that it owes nothing to the Nizam distributor. The decision was made by the Chamber in view of the facts on table. It was found out that producers Puri Jagannadh and Charmme owe nothing to the distributor. The 'Liger' stalemate has been resolved ahead of the release of 'Double iSmart' on August 15.
