Actress Jyothika was recently asked at an event about why she didn't vote in the recent Lok Sabha elections held in Tamil Nadu. Her response was strange. She said that she was not in town and that she has a personal life of her own. So far, so good. But what followed in her reply indicated that she doesn't understand anything about the voting process. "Online voting is there. Not everything is publicised," she said. There is no online voting as such for elections in India.
Many Netizens wondered if she really knows anything about voting rules. "She and her husband, Suriya, always talk about social issues. But when it comes to something as basic as voting, look how ignorant her response is," a Twitter user wrote. Another Netizen opined that Jyothika can go about talking about corruption et al in movies without taking a stance in real life for fear of being hounded by the state government. In Tamil Nadu, film celebs fear talking against the party in power.
Meanwhile, Suriya will be seen in the pan-Indian movie 'Kanguva' later this year.
