Is Allu Arjun purely a musical hits hero? That's the question a film buff is asking. "AA is purely a songs-dependent hero. If you consider his last four films, namely, 'Puhspa: The Rise', 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo', 'Naa Peru Surya', and 'DJ', three of them had good songs and the Box Office results were positive regardless of the public talk they generated. The one with average songs, namely, 'Naa Peru Surya', didn't make the cut," wrote Gautham Reddy on X.
The observation is interesting. 'Pushpa' became a hit in Hindi mainly because of its excellent songs. This is not to say that Allu Arjun's solid screen presence and Sukumar's gravitas-filled treatment didn't have a role in its non-Telugu success. But it's the songs that made the film a phenomenon on social media, where Reels and Shorts are a rage.
'AVPL' is among Thaman's career-best albums. Although one of its songs was a copycat tune, the ablum was a tremendous one otherwise. To be fair to Trivikram, his writing was sensible, but what matters to the topic under discussion is that the family drama portions in the movie received a strictly mixed response. 'DJ' would have been a sure-fire flop had it not been for the songs.
'Pushpa 2' is slated to hit the cinemas on December 5th. Allu Arjun needs Devi Sri Prasad's help as much as Sukumar's.
