In July 2002, the films of Jr NTR and Chiranjeevi hit the cinemas in two consecutive weeks. 'Allari Ramudu' was released on July 19. 'Indra' headed to theatres on July 24. Both films were directed by B Gopal.
'Allari Ramudu' was supposed to be released on July 12. In the nick of the moment, B Gopal discovered that the sound mixing in the second half was improper. As a result, the sound department had to go back and rework the second half. This resulted in a last-minute postponement by one week.
Jr NTR's movie did pretty well commercially in the first week. With the release of 'Indra' on July 24, its collections saw a dent. Had there been a two-week gap as per the original plan, the movie would have done even better. Even so, in the first week itself, producer Chanti Addala made good profits. Still, 'Allari Ramudu' failed to realize its potential purely due to the technical challenge it faced in the post-production phase.
