Telugu actress Hema, who was arrested on June 3 in connection with a rave party raid in Bengaluru, was granted conditional bail by a special court the same month. Hema was one of several people taken into custody by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) following a raid on a party at a farmhouse in Electronic City on May 19.
The news is that Hema has now been named in a chargesheet. The Bengaluru police have indicted 88 individuals, including Hema, in connection with the months-old drug-related incident. A 1,086-page charge sheet has been filed, accusing 79 attendees and 9 organizers of the event. Hema is alleged to have consumed MDMA drugs at the party, and her medical records have been submitted as evidence. She faces charges under Section 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
In a recent interview, Hema lamented that the drugs brouhaha robbed her of her peace of mind. "I am a pakka Kapu woman. But I couldn't celebrate the stupendous victory of Jana Sena in recent elections because of the issue," she added.
