With each installment, the Dhoom franchise heightened the stakes. 'Dhoom', released in 2004, featured John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra. 'Dhoom 2', released in 2006, featured Hrithik Roshan. 'Dhoom 3', released in 2013, was led by Aamir Khan.

The news is that 'Dhoom 4' will be led by Ranbir Kapoor. Yash Raj Films is going to produce it on a budget of more than Rs 400 Cr.

As per the buzz in the Mumbai film industry, Aditya Chopra wants 'Dhoom 4' to look lavish because expectations from Ranbir's movies are going to become too huge after the release of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal Park'. The YRF wants 'Dhoom 4' to gross Rs 1,500 Cr worldwide in theatres alone, considering that 'Animal Park' is expected to gross a similar figure. They want 'Dhoom 4' to be on par with 'Animal Park' in the least desirable scenario.
