At first, the Telugu audiences may not have easily recognized Sundeep Kishan, but in fact, many are far more familiar with his acclaimed acting role in ‘Prasthanam’ and also in films like ‘Routine Love Story’ and ‘Gundello Godari’. Sundeep is now coming out with a dubbed movie titled ‘Mahesh’, which is the super hit film in Tamil called ‘Yaruda Mahesh’. On the eve of film’s release on 20th, hero Sundeep Kishan spoke to the media personnel and shared his views on the film. Here are few excerpts:
What’s the reason for doing Mahesh?
I would simply say that it’s the story which impressed me immensely. My character is very funny and hence I okayed it immediately. As predicted by me, the film was a huge hit in Tamil. But I never thought that it would get dubbed into Telugu. The film also impressed Suresh Kondeti and Maruthi. Therefore they have bought the Telugu rights immediately.
Brief a little about your character in this film?
I played Siva in this film which is innocent and doesn’t know anything. The story revolves around Siva searching for Mahesh. Director Madan did a wonderful job in carving the film. As per the story, we wanted to give a tagline called ‘Allari Naresh Cinema’. But somehow it did not materialize. There is one more character named Jagan in the film which is also a highlight. 'Mahesh' is altogether a wholesome entertainer which all kinds of audiences can laugh and enjoy thoroughly.
Are your Telugu films being dubbed into Tamil?
Yes, ‘Gundello Godari’ was dubbed in Tamil. Another film which is under dubbing process is ‘Routine Love Story’. However, few scenes are being re-shoot in order to get connected to Tamil audience as they won’t watch if Tamil nativity is missed in the film. But that is not the case with Telugu audience as they will watch any movie if the story is good. I appreciate the Telugu audience regarding this.
Do you have any plans to work in Tamil and Hindi films?
At present my entire concentration is on Telugu films. I wanted to get settled here first. I did seven films in two years by doing different characters in every film that I did. I’m now planning to do two films a year. I will think about Tamil and Hindi in the next year.
Can you also give some details about your other films?
While ‘Mahesh’ is releasing tomorrow, ‘D K Bose’ is releasing on 27th. First copy of ‘D for Dopidi’ is getting ready. I watched the film, output is good. Raj and D.K are currently doing ‘Happy Ending’ with Saif Ali Khan. Soon after that there is a film in our combination under Anandi Arts Creations banner. There is one more film under the banner of Vamsi Krishna Srinivas. He was the producer of ‘Solo’ film.
Okay, so what kind of films would you choose in the near future?
I wanted to do films like ‘Jagadam’, ‘Leader’ and ‘Arya’ and in Tamil ‘Kakha Kakha’ and ‘Aadukalam’. Sundeep Kishan concluded the chit-chat saying, “My long time wish is to work with directors Rajamouli, Puri Jagannadh, VV Vinayak and Krishna Vamsi garu.”
