Sundeep Kishan starrer Okka Ammayi Tappa is gearing up for release tomorrow. The actor is all excited. He says that the subject was so interesting that he did not take any remuneration for this film. A talk with Sundeep on Okka Ammayi Tappa...
How was this film executed?
It wasn’t easy. The first thing that came to my mind after listening to Rajasimha was how will this plot be executed. Most of the film happens on the flyover. But only some portions of the film was shot on the flyover. The rest was shot in a set constructed in Annapurna Studios.
We’ve heard that you did not take remuneration for OAT?
That’s true. Being a part of this film it self is a great feeling. I have not taken remuneration for Venkatadri Express either. Even Nithya slashed down her price for this movie.
Okka Ammayi Tappa, tell us about it?
Many people are stuck in a traffic jam. A boy and girl fall in love there. There is a bomb scare and no one knows where it is planted. What happens next is thrilling! My role is of a mentalist who can gauge others by their actions. The whole thing happens on Hitec City Flyover.
OAT took shape in 2007, any changes from then to now?
The only change is then the flyover was Begumpet flyover and now it is Hitec Flyover. The latter was preferred as it has become a symbol of Hyderabad.
There are five songs in this film. Where can you place songs in such a thriller?
No... don't get it wrong. The film is not just a thriller. It has its elements. There are fun moments. Two songs are duets. Most characters stuck in the traffic jam are comical. The film comes with all right ingredients.
Is OAT inspired by Phone Booth?
Seriously I have not seen that film. May be some scenes might have some semblance. Nothing more than that.
How was it working with Krishna Vamsi?
It’s a dream come true. Six years ago I messaged him on Facebook saying that he is my favorite. Today I am working with him. It’s a great feeling.
Future films?
In Tamil I am acting in Mayavan with Lavanya Tripati and Maanagaram with Regina. These will be dubbed in Telugu. Also there is Krishna Vamsi’s Nakshatram.
