Importing heroines from Bollywood is not new to Telugu Film Industry and Rashi Khanna is yet another Bollywood beauty who is being introduced to the Telugu screen. The actress captured the hearts of Bollywood audiences through her impressive performance in the role of John Abraham’s wife in last year’s ‘Madras Café’. And now, she's all set to woo the Telugu audience also in ‘Oohalu Gusagusalaade’. With Naga Shourya as her costar, the film marks the directorial debut of Srinivas Avasarala. Sai Korrapati produced it on Varahi Chalana Chitram banner. On the eve of the film’s release on June 20th, heroine Rashi Khanna organized a press meet to share her experience which she had with the film unit. Here are few excerpts:
When asked about how she developed interest in films and get into the field Rashi Khanna said, “I’ve completed my degree in Delhi. My ambition was to become a copywriter for Ad films and got ready to take up the course. However, I got selected for the role of John Abraham’s wife in ‘Madras Café’. It was an unexpected opportunity. While I was developing interest in acting after the release of ‘Madras Café’, Srinivas Avasarala approached me with the script of ‘Oohalu Gusagusalaade’. As his narration impressed me, I instantly gave my nod to do the film. Everything happened unexpectedly. So, that’s how my acting career started which otherwise I was supposed to be a copywriter in the advertising field.”
About her character in ‘Oohalu Gusagusalade’, she described, “I played the character Prabhavathy, the girl who comes on vacation from Delhi to Vizag. Prabhavathy is a very beautiful girl and self-centered who thinks about none than herself.”
About her costar Naga Shourya she commented, “My costar Naga Shourya calls me a ‘Free Radio’ as I constantly used to sing in sets. Actually it’s my hobby right from my childhood. Naga Shourya used to be very playful during the break but turns very serious when the camera is switched on. I’m very impressed with his energy level. He never gets tired even during continuous schedules. He used to help me deliver the Telugu dialogues by describing its meaning.”
When asked about director Srinivas Avasarala, Rashi Khanna praised him saying, “Srini Avasarala is ‘The Best’!!! I understood his command on the script when he narrated the story to me for the first time itself. And no wonder he has shown his craftsmanship by shaping up the film hundred times beautiful than what he narrated, especially the emotional scenes are mind-blowing. The biggest plus to ‘Oohalu Gusagusalaade’ is Srini Avasarala’s workmanship.”
Similarly the actress expressed how she was awe-struck by the fact that Sai Korrapati was one of the leading producers in Tollywood today. In her words, “I knew that Sai Korrapati is the producer. But I was not aware of the fact that he produced the films ‘Eega’ and ‘Legend’. When I came to know through my unit members during the release of ‘Legend’, I was awe-struck to note that he was one of the producers of that film. He used to be very casual and friendly with the unit members in the sets. However, I couldn’t be normal with him after knowing that he is one of the leading producers in Tollywood. Yet he used to treat me like a delicate doll. Infact my entire team treated me like a princess.”
