Raashi Singh, a newcomer, is all set to be seen in 'Sashi', which will release in theatres on March 19. The film stars Aadhi Saikumar as the hero and Surabhi as the first heroine. In this interview, Raashi talks about her role in the movie and more.
I am from Chattisgarh's Raipur. Before entering the film industry, I was an air hostess. Before this, I was a model. I wanted the security of a job; wanted to do everything on my own without depending on my parents. I moved to Hyderabad and worked for IndiGO. I am doing three or four movies right now. Because of Covid-19, a couple of them have got delayed. Besides 'Sashi', I am associated with the project of a very big production house.
The name of my character in 'Sashi' is Sunitha. I was already shooting for a movie when this movie came my way. Sunitha is selfless and is unconditional in love. She is homely. I have done a lot of emotional scenes in the movie. There is an element of one-sided love.
Surabhi has a major character. But I don't feel insecure about it. I know my place in the story. After all, Surabhi is a senior to me. I don't have combination scenes with her. I have got scenes only with Aadhi Saikumar and others. I have played a singer in the movie. There is a musical band of which I and Aadhi are part of. The male lead supports my dreams.
Aadhi is a gentleman. He made me feel very comfortable and it was a smooth journey working with him.
I can understand Telugu. Therefore, doing 'Sashi' was less difficult for me. The director had explained the story in detail before the film was taken to the floors.
I should be nervous but I am not nervous before the release of 'Sashi'. The teaser, trailer and songs have got a very good response.
I am doing a murder mystery in Telugu. It's a suspenseful film where romance is an element. I don't want to be stereotyped. I don't want to be slotted into this or that. I want to try all genres. I want to do performance-intensive characters as well as romantic and family movies. I want to know how much people like in each of the genres.
When I was growing up, I used to act in front of the mirror. I was 18 when I joined IndiGO. I was 19 when I left the job of an air hostess. Having already signed up for three movies in Telugu, I don't think I will be doing any more this year.
