'Cauliflower' is heading to the theatres on November 26. Starring Sampoornesh Babu as the hero, the comedy is directed by RK Malineni. In this interview, the comedy hero talks about the film, his character, his future projects, and more.
Cauliflower is the name of the male lead in the movie. It's also the vegetable that saves him from embarrassment. 'Seelam' is important for men as much as women, is what the film says in a comical fashion. I loved the premise and accepted to do the comedy entertainer.
The hero is determined not to lose his virginity till marriage. He wants to carry the legacy of his male ancestors forward. The song that comes after his rape will leave you in splits.
'Kobbari Matta' was a spoof, whereas 'Cauliflower' is not a spoof. It has a proper story. There are long lines but there is no breathless dialogue delivery in the movie. There is a court scene that is hilarious.
Since nobody in my family has ever been into films, they found it a bit strange that I have gone semi-nude for 'Cauliflower'. I don't know why they took it so seriously (laughs).
Nobody has gone nude in this manner after Aamir Khan in 'PK'. When I got the opportunity, I grabbed it. I didn't have any reservations. I have done exaggerated comedies such as 'Hrudaya Kaleyam' and 'Singham 123'. I am not surprised that some characters are meant only for me!
Keeping my style in mind, I do have some expectations about the kind of characters I want to play. I express my opinions in front of my directors/writers. At the end of the day, the audience have to enjoy my comedy.
There was a time when I used to dream of travelling by flight. Today, I am doing it 10-15 times a year. I am satisfied. I am involved in sponsoring charity activities. I have given donations to groups that are involved in rendering charity to corona-affected families, etc.
I am not ready to invest in residential property in Hyderabad. I will rather buy it in Siddipet, which is my comfort place.
I am doing a Tamil movie as a hero. Its shooting is completed to the tune of 70%. It's a serious story relatively. As for a film with Sai Rajesh, it might happen in 2022 after he is done with Anand Deverakonda's 'Baby'.
