'Rudram Kota' is a village-based love story set to hit the cinemas on September 22. Senior artist Jayalalitha is presenting it. She is also playing a prominent role in this Anil Arka Kandavalli-produced movie helmed by Ramu Kona.

In his latest interview, director Ramu Kona sounded enthusiastic about his prospects in the film industry. For years, he has been a TV serial director helming hundreds of episodes. "My serials have been telecast by almost all major TV channels. The journey from TV to cinema has been exciting. Handling a film is a bigger responsibility. If a film becomes a hit, you get fame," Kona adds.

'Rudram Kota' was shot for 26 working days. "I count Jayalalitha garu's performance as one of the key highlights. The music by the Subhash Anand-Niranjan duo will be another stand-out feature," the director says, adding that the audience can expect never-seen-before elements.

A fan of SS Rajamouli, Kona believes in rooted and authentic story-telling. "Incidentally, Rajamouli garu, too, started out as a TV serial director in the 1990s with 'Shanti Nivasam'," Kona says.

Led by Rudhra (a debutant, he will be seen as someone who spurns women), Vibhisha and Riya, the film's story is set in a village near Bhadrachalam. The cinematography is by Adimalla Sanjeev. To be released in theatres by Screen Max Pictures, the film is edited by Avula Venkatesh.
