Janhvi Kapoor has defended Pushpa 2 against criticism that it undeservedly got an IMAX release, while the Hollywood masterpiece 'Interstellar' didn't, in India. The Bollywood actress, who recently debuted in Telugu opposite actor Jr NTR, wrote that we don't have to look down upon our kind of masala cinema when even Westerners have started admiring some of their elements.
The 'Devara' actress defended 'Pushpa 2', saying it is also cinema. "Why are we so obsessed with idolizing the West and running down things that come out of our own country and instantly disqualifying it from being considered worthy? The same rooted representation and larger-than-life tone other countries appreciate and are fascinated by our cinema for, we ourselves are embarrassed about. Sad," she added.
Janhvi Kapoor is currently doing Ram Charan's 16th movie. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film recently went to the floors in Mysore. Janhvi is playing a village belle's role in the movie.
