Four kids, identified as Charan Teja, Raghu, Karthik, and Kiran Kumar, studying in Standard IX at a residential school in Vizag, have reportedly run away from their hostel after watching Lucky Baskhar.
Early media reports stated that the children promised in a letter to return only after striking rich, like the titular character from the recent Telugu blockbuster starring Dulquer Salmaan. CCTV footage shows the kids scaling a tall gate. The incident is yet to be commented upon by the police department.
A critique of Lucky Baskhar:
The glamourization of short-cuts in getting rich has its pitfalls. There is a reason some movies with amoral and immoral themes are not prescribed for children of a certain age. They are best watched under parental guidance. In the absence of guidance, the lessons drawn from movies like Lucky Baskhar can lead to perversions.
Lucky Baskhar, directed by Venky Atluri, streams on Netflix.
