Rumor is beginning to circulate about the news that Maniratnam has dropped his earlier idea of making his dream project ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ with Vijay and is all set to begin his next film, a love story film on village backdrop. Remember, he was to do a film with Mahesh Babu, but sadly that too got shelved.
The filmmaker directed some real classic romantic movies of all time like ‘Mounaraagam’, ‘Geetanjali’, ‘Roja’, ‘Sakhi’, etc., and gave good break for heroes like Karthik, Nagarjuna, Aravind Swamy and Madhavan. Now the director is planning to introduce Karthik’s son Gautham. Karthik’s association with Maniratnam began some 25 years ago when they worked together in ‘Mounaraagam’ followed by ‘Agni Natchathiram’ (Gharshana in Telugu). As per the Chennai sources, the film is titled ‘Pookadai’. AR Rahman has been roped in for composing the scores and PC Sreeram will handle the camera.
