The relief given by Justice K Venkataraman to Kamal Haasan was short lived as the ban lifted on Tuesday was once again extended till February 6th. Therefore the film which was scheduled for February 1st release will not be releasing on that date now.
As a result the actor has now decided to appeal in the Supreme Court against the Tamil Nadu High Court order. The actor had spent around Rs 100 crores on this multilingual spy thriller and even mortgaged his own house in Chennai in order to make his dream project. Therefore he was terribly upset over the obstacles coming one after the other. Just before the verdict given by the High Court, he invited the media to his residence yesterday to share his unhappiness over the hindrances causing him by the Tamil Nadu Government.
Haasan said in an emotional outburst, “There is no difference between me and my Muslim brothers but it appears like Tamil Nadu wants me out. I may have to seek a secular place (except Tamil Nadu) in India or abroad. The film is not anti-Muslims.” As per the reports the actor even deleted the scenes and dialogues which could show the Muslim community in bad light. Later he announced, “I and my Muslim brothers have amicably settled the issue.” Asking his fans to keep peace he said, “I’ve no issues with people of Tamil Nadu and I would definitely continue to make Tamil movies.”
‘Vishwaroopam’ was released in Telugu (AP) and Tamil (at overseas) on January 25th and was highly appreciated for its technical brilliance with world class making. However, the film was immediately lifted from theaters as a precautionary measure on January 26th, in Hyderabad, some parts of Karnataka. At overseas too the film was removed from Malaysia and Srilanka citing ban in Tamil Nadu.
